Stuart Arnold Johnson

Stuart Arnold Johnson, age 86, of Dassel, died Tuesday, October 29, 2024, at the Lakeside Health Care Center of Dassel. A funeral service will be held on Friday, November 8, 2024, at 11:00 am with Pastors Marvin and Linda Norlien and Pastor Keith Carlson officiating at the Evangelical Covenant Church in Dassel. The interment will be held at the Dassel Community Cemetery following the service. There will be a one-hour visitation prior to the service on Friday, November 8, 2024, at the Evangelical Covenant Church in Dassel. The Johnson Funeral Home in Dassel is in charge of the funeral arrangements. Stuart Arnold Johnson was born on April 26, 1938, in Dassel, Minnesota to Harry and Esther (Mattson) Johnson. He attended school at Dassel and graduated from the Dassel High School. He was baptized and confirmed at the Dassel Covenant Church. In his early twenty’s he made a commitment to live for Jesus as best he could. He served in his church as a youth counselor, greeter, usher, sound technician and elder. Stuart was a dairy farmer for several years and then switched to a hog operation. Following a barn fire, he phased out of farming and drove school bus for a time. He then worked for JLCO delivering grain dryers to Georgia. Stuart also worked for Top Farm Hybrids. After a few years driving truck for Miller Manufacturing, he finished his years as a semi driver hauling loads for Teske Trucking. He enjoyed meeting and visiting with people and making them feel welcome. He dearly loved his immediate family and extended family and enjoyed the times spent with each of them. Although not enthusiastic about travel, he willingly came along and enjoyed many family trips. Stuart is survived by his wife, Joan, five children, Glenda (Harvey) Peterson, Rhonda (Robert) Schmieg, Daniel (Karin), Craig (Jodi), and Joel (Al). He is also survived by his grandchildren, Aimee (Ben) Mertz, Aryn (Brandon) Hedlund, Ryan (Jenna) Peterson, Anna Peterson, James Schmieg, Esther Schmieg, Jesslynn (Matt) Martin, Ezra Johnson, Julia (Braedon) Wangsness, Ryan Johnson, Colin Johnson, and Owen Johnson. In addition, he leaves ten great grandchildren. He is further survived by a brother, Clifford (LaRene) Johnson and a sister-in-law, Annabelle Johnson. Stuart was preceded in death by his parents, his siblings and their spouses, Ethelyn and Robert Carlson, Gladys and Wayne Paulson, Lillian and Daryl Wessman and Elmer Johnson.
