Stanley Gaylord Varland

Stanley Gaylord Varland, age 92, of Dassel died Monday, February 10, 2025, at the Cokato Manor. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the Evangelical Covenant Church in Dassel with Pastor Jordan Scott officiating at the service. The interment of the urn will be held at a later date. A time to gather with the family will be held one-hour prior to the service on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at the Evangelical Covenant Church in Dassel. The Johnson Funeral Home in Dassel is in charge of the memorial service arrangements. Stanley Gaylord Varland, the son of Jasper and Bessie (Robertson) Varland, was born on November 7, 1932, in Bird Island, Minnesota. The family moved to Darwin where Stan attended elementary school in Darwin before graduating from Dassel High School. At the time of his death Stan was a member of the Evangelical Covenant Church in Dassel. On April 16, 1952, Stan was united in marriage to Janet Mae Anderson. Together they made their home in Litchfield for several years before moving to the Anderson family farm to help take care of family. Stanley was employed at 3M Manufacturing in Hutchinson until his retirement. Upon retirement Stan was employed as a bus driver and ground keeper for the Dassel Cokato School District for several years. Stan loved to enjoy spending time hunting, fishing, playing golf, bowling, and snowmobiling with family and friends. He had taken several hunting trips to Wyoming and fly in fishing trips to Onterio, Canada over the years. Janet and Stan loved to travel together and had taken several trips to Las Vegas over the years. Stan had faithfully cared for Janet for many years during her battle with MS. He is survived by his children, Lynn Jadinak of Cokato, and Scott (Lori) Varland of Dassel, five grandchildren, Nick (Erin) Jadinak, Jeff Jadinak, Michael (Jessi) Hauan, Kendyl Varland, and Briana (Pedro) Swanson, and one step-grandchild, Jill (Brian) Butkus, seven great grandchildren, Arly Jadinak, Jolynn Hauan, Brooke Hauan, Trenton Hauan, and Micah Hauan, Anthony Butkus and Luke Butkus. He is also survived by a nephew, Peter Carlson. He was preceded in death by his wife, Janet, his brother, Steven, and his parents.
