Mae Virginia Evenski

Mae Virginia Evenski, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister who will be missed by all who knew her, passed away on November 15, 2025. Mae was born on May 15, 1933, on the family farm, the daughter of Reynold and Minnie (Simonson) Grandquist. Her early life was rooted in faith and community. She was baptized on August 17, 1933, and later confirmed her faith at North Crow Lutheran Church in Knapp. Mae began her education at the Happy Corner School and went on to graduate from Cokato High School with the Class of 1951. On November 1, 1952, Mae was united in marriage to Roger Erickson at North Crow Lutheran Church in Knapp. Together, they raised three children: Steve Erickson, Kathy (Erickson) Woetzel, and Ron Erickson. Roger and Mae began their married life farming in Stockholm from 1952 to 1955, managing dairy cattle and working the land. They later moved to a farm near the Knapp area, and in 1959, they rented and eventually purchased a farm near Darwin, where they lived until Roger's passing in 1995. Mae dedicated herself to her family and her professional life. She was employed at Farmers State Bank in Darwin from 1960 to 1966 and later had a long and distinguished career at 3M Hutchinson from 1966 until her retirement in 1995. Faith was central to Mae's life. She was highly active in her church, serving diligently on the church council, cemetery board, decorating committee, and on the altar society. On September 25, 1998, she married Arnold Evenski and moved to a home in Dassel, where she embraced a new chapter of life. Mae’s legacy continues through her loving family. She is survived by her daughter Kathy and husband Ralph Woetzel, and her son Ron Erickson, stepdaughter Joyce Evenski, sister Elaine (Walley) McDonald. She also leaves behind six beloved grandchildren: Kyle Erickson, Melissa (Justin) Grev, Linnea (Nate) Wilhelm, Nick (Corey) Woetzel, Brad (Angela) Erickson, and Daniel Erickson. She was the proud great-grandmother of fourteen great-grandchildren: Amber Erickson, Dylan, Lauryn, Brayden, and Quinntyn Grev, Max, Ezra, Eli, Henry, Leo, and Silas Wilhelm, and Morgan, Taylor, and Bordy Woetzel, two step grandchildren Kyle (Nicole) Evenski, Amanda (Ting Ho) Evenski and three step great grandchildren Kyson, Ashlyn and Brevin Evenski. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Roger Erickson, and her son, Steve Erickson, daughter-in-law Cindy Erickson, granddaughter Kelly Erickson along with her parents, brother Mike, sister Marilyn, and Arnold Evenski. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 21, 2025, at All Saints Lutheran Church in Darwin with Rev. Joe Midthun officiating. The interment will be held at the church cemetery following the service. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service All Saints Lutheran Church in Darwin on Friday, November 21, 2025. The Johnson Funeral Home in Dassel is in charge of the funeral arrangements.
