Daniel Elroy Faust

Daniel Elroy Faust, age 79 of Dassel, died Friday, June 6, 2025, at the Lakeside Generations in Dassel. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 14, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Dassel with Rev. Janine Olson officiating. The interment of the urn will be held following the service at the Dassel Community Cemetery with the Paul F. Dille American Legion Post and the United States Marine Corps Honor Guard and the Patriot Guard. A time to gather with the family will be held one hour prior to the service on Saturday, June 14, 2025, at the Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Dassel. The Johnson Funeral Home in Dassel is in charge of the memorial arrangements. Daniel Elroy Faust the son of Jess and Vetress (Ewing) Faust Dingman was born on May 23, 1946, in Mauston, Wisconsin. Dan grew up in St. Paul until his family moved to Cannon Falls, Minnesota where he graduated from high school in 1965. Dan was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith and was presently a member of the Gethsemane Lutheran Church where he had served on the church council, ushered, and organize and helped with suppers and other celebrations. Dan was inducted into the United States Marine Corps and served his country during the Vietnam Conflict. He was proud of his service and was proud of the country that he served. Upon his discharge, Dan attended Redwing Vocational Technical School and received his associate degree in banking and insurance. Dan was united in marriage to Katherine Arndt in South Dakota. Together they made their home in St. Paul, Randolph, Goodhue, Darwin, Howard Lake, and Cokato. To this union two children were born, Chris and Kelly. Dan was employed as an insurance agent at Northwest Bank in Litchfield, and he was employed at First National Bank in Cokato as an insurance agent. In 1984, Dan purchased the insurance agency and started Faust Insurance Agency. On May 7, 1988, Dan was united in marriage to Sheryl Swenson at the Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Dassel. Together they made their home on the shores of Lake Washington for many years before moving to Dassel in 2021. He enjoyed traveling and had journeyed to Alaska. He enjoyed cruising the Alaska waters and sailed through the Panama Canal with his daughter Kelly. Dan and Sheryl had the opportunity to travel to Germany, Switzerland, and several other European countries. He enjoyed snowmobiling, hunting, fishing, smoking meat and cooking for family and friends, and had been in charge of the Rotary Lutefisk dinner for several years. He is survived by his wife, Sheryl Faust of Dassel, children, Kelly (Kelly) Waterhouse of Bedford, Texas, and Chris Faust of Goodhue, step-children, Jeff (Michelle) Swenson of Dassel, Brad Swenson of Burbank, California, three grandchildren, Shane (Tessa) Swenson, Nicole (Dan) Christopher, Emily (Chris Onken ) Berezni, five great grandchildren, Cooper Christopher, Nathan Christopher, Adeline Swenson, Jude Swenson, and Myerly Berezni, siblings, Jessie (Donald) Kiser of Spicer, and Dennis Faust of St. Paul, sister-in-law, Charene Faust. He was preceded in death by his stepdaughter, Nancy Swenson, parents, Jess and Vetress Faust, siblings, Darlene Bergquist, and Buford Faust.
