Marvin Milo Anderson, age 81, of Hutchinson, formerly of Dassel, died Tuesday, February 25, 2014, at Cedar Crest of Hutchinson. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 1, 2014, at 2:00 p.m. at the Evangelical Covenant Church in Dassel with the Rev. Keith Carlson officiating. The interment will be held in spring at the Lake Arvilla Cemetery in rural Dassel. A time to gather with family and friends will be held one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the Evangelical Covenant Church in Dassel. The Johnson Funeral Home in Dassel is in charge of the memorial arrangements. Marvin Milo Anderson, the son of Hugo William and Anna Lucille (Schreiner) Anderson, was born on September 15, 1932, in Dassel, Minnesota. He grew up in the Dassel area and attended district schooling for his education and later continued his education and received his GED. Marvin was an active member of the Evangelical Covenant Church in Dassel and had served on several committees. He always had time to lend a helping hand if things needed to get done. Marvin served his country in the United States Army from 1953 until 1955, helping to rebuild South Korea's infrastructure. On October 6, 1956, Marvin was united in marriage to Adeline Beckman at the Elim Baptist Church in Minneapolis. Together they made their home in Dassel where Marvin was employed by the Dassel Feed Mill. Marvin and Adeline moved to Hutchinson where they lived for two years. They bought a place north of Dassel, where they made their home until 2011, when they moved back to Hutchinson. Marvin had been employed by 3M Corporation in Hutchinson for 32 years retiring from 3M in 1991. After retirement he owned and operated Marv's Stump Chipping for 20 years. He enjoyed spending time in his shop fixing, helping friends and family with tire repairs and other projects. He loved auctions and always had a place on the shelf for another tool. He enjoyed pheasant, duck, and deer hunting and sometimes enjoyed a little peace and quiet on the lake fishing. Marvin and Adeline spent numerous years traveling south in their motorhome to Arizona, Texas, and Florida. He will be missed by his family and his many friends. Marvin is survived by his wife Adeline of Hutchinson, son, Todd (Liz) Anderson of Lodi, California, daughter, Trudy (Scott) Suter of Burnsville, four grandchildren, Annalisa Christensen, Emelia Pitlick, Conrad Paulson, and Marcus Anderson, four great grandchildren, Parker Christensen, Paige Christensen, Peyton Christensen, and Lilly Paulson, siblings, Emily Mackie of San Leandro, CA, Goldie Omdahl of Clackamas, OR, Melvin (Arlette) Anderson of Dassel, Faye (Dewey) Shanholtzer of Bakersfield, CA, Gilbert (Jeanette) Anderson of Dassel, Howard (Peggy) Anderson of Dassel, Orville (LuAnn) Anderson of Dassel, Percy (Mary) Anderson of Hutchinson, Ralph (Karee) Anderson of Dassel, and Linda (Steve) Madson of Cokato. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and numerous friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hugo and Lucille Anderson, and two sisters, Irma Peterson and Lois Paradise.
