James David Braadland, age 74, of Darwin, died Tuesday, May 18, 2021, at his residence. A time to gather will be held on Sunday afternoon from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Johnson Funeral Home in Dassel. Military funeral honors will be provided by the Paul F. Dille American Legion Post 364, Dassel and the United States Army Flag Presentation Squad. James David Braadland, the son of Melvin and Aileen (Moe) Braadland was born on February 11, 1947, in Glenwood, Minnesota. James was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Faith. He grew up in the Dassel area where he graduated from the Dassel High School in 1965. Upon graduating from high school, James was inducted into the United States Army. He served his country from June of 1966 until June of 1968. James entered the United States Army National Guard and served until 1983, when he was discharged. He worked for many years as a woodworker, metal worker and had fabricated many convertible automobiles over the years. James loved to spend time with his family. He had taken many motorcycle trips with his sister, Paulette and her husband Merle. They had traveled to the west coast, the Carlsbad Caverns in New Mexico and had also traveled to Canada. He was a wonderful woodworker and had made many wooden sleds for his family. He enjoyed fishing, camping, and would do anything for his mother. He is survived by his children, Paula Galvan and her significant other, Peter Fischer of Cosmos, and David (Kelli) Braadland of Colorado Springs, Colorado; mother, Aileen Weber of Dassel, sister, Paulette Wieberdink, step-siblings, Roger (Millie) Weber, Lloyd (Connie) Weber, Tom (Lorraine) Weber, Duane (Cheryl) Weber, Melvin (Pat) Weber, Marvin Weber, Sandra Schultz, Linda (Bill) Stelton, step-in-laws Jan Weber, Rick Vensland, six grandchildren, Britany, Tyler, Hunter, Shantel, Kyle, and Grace (Blane), three great grandchildren, Justin, Addyson, and Brantley. He was preceded in death by his father, Melvin, brother, Merlin Braadland, girlfriend, Karen Tuman, stepbrother, LeRoy Weber, and stepsister, Sharon Vensland.
