Dana Albertine Hesser

October 9, 1938 - March 16, 2022

Dana Albertine Hesser, age 83, of Buffalo, formerly of Dassel, died Wednesday, March 16, 2022, at the Lakeridge Care Center in Buffalo. A memorial service will be held on June 18, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at the Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Dassel with the Rev. Janine Olson officiating with the interment at the Steelesville Cemetery in rural Dassel. The Johnson Funeral Home in Dassel is in charge of the memorial arrangements. Dana Albertine (Knobel) Hesser, the daughter of Aaron “Bud” Knobel and Zola (Carter) Knobel, was born on October 9, 1938, in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Dana grew up in the White Bear Lake area where she attended school. Upon graduating from high school Dana attended Gustavus Adolphus College and received her teaching degree. Dana was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and had been a member of the Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Dassel at the time of her death. On August 14, 1960, Dana was united in marriage to Gerald Frederick Hesser at the First Lutheran Church in White Bear Lake, Minnesota. Together they made their home in the Chicago, Illinois area while Jerry was attending George Mason University, taking some classes to obtain his master’s degree. Dana and Jerry moved to Sheboygan, Wisconsin, where they resided until 1967, when they moved to Davenport, Iowa. In 1972, Dana and Jerry moved to Prior Lake, Minnesota, residing there until 1993, when they moved to a cabin on the shores of Collinwood Lake near Cokato, Minnesota. Dana had been employed as an elementary school teacher in La Grange, Illinois, Sheboygan, Wisconsin, and Davenport, Iowa. She was a substitute teacher while they resided in Prior Lake, Minnesota. She had also been employed as an Administration Assistant while employed at Car Quest and worked at the Depot Museum in Dassel. Dana enjoyed spending time with her family for holidays and special events. Her children, grandchildren and great grandchild held a special place in her heart and were the light of her life. she could often be found on Collinwood Lake cruising around the lake with Jerry. She was fond of travel, visiting numerous places around the country and having taken a cruise to Alaska. They would spend winters in Mexico and later in Lake Havasu, Arizona. She had many talents and especially enjoyed, needlepoint, knitting, cooking, baking, refinishing furniture, and chair painting. She will be missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her. She is survived by her children, Gregory (Edith) Hesser of Burnsville, Mark (Vanessa) Hesser of St. Michael, Brian (Kim) Hesser of Hutchinson, eight grandchildren, Christian Hesser, Stephanie Hesser, Charles Veillon, Kennith Veillon, Joshua Hesser, Kora Hesser, Mitchel Hesser and Collin Hesser and one great grandchild, Alexandra Veillon, siblings, Casey (Pete) Knobel of Vadnais Heights, Minnesota, Mary Jo (Tom) Oberg of Mexico. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald, a son, Steve Hesser, and her parents.
