Robin Lee Kelly

Robin Lee (Ortquist) Kelly, age 71, of Dassel, died on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, at her residence. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Philips Catholic Church in Litchfield with Father Jeffrey Horejsi officiating the Mass. The Interment will be held at the St. Ignatius Catholic Cemetery in rural Annandale following the service. A visitation will be held on Monday evening from 5:00 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Johnson Funeral Home in Dassel with a one-hour visitation on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at St. Philips Catholic Church in Litchfield. Robin Lee Kelly was born on December 12, 1954, to Dennis and Marlys Ortquist in Cokato, MN. She grew up in Cokato alongside her 5 sisters and 2 brothers. Some of her favorite childhood memories included spending time at her grandparent’s bakery, going to bible camp and swimming at Brooks Lake with family friends, just to name a few. 7th grade brought one of the most important moments in her life. Meeting Tim Kelly. After being high school sweethearts, they were married on April 21, 1972, at the Cokato Evangelical Lutheran church. They shared nearly 54 years of marriage. They built their life on a farm north of Dassel. They milked cows where she loved feeding the calves. When the cows left, she was the expert grain cart operator for many years. Their lives were blessed with the addition of 4 children, Nicole, Shannon, Matthew, and Katie. Their family further multiplied with 17 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Robin enjoyed many hobbies. She did ceramics for many years with her sister Rori and made many quilts that she blessed her family with. She was an avid reader and instilled the love of reading in her daughters. Robin also had a very strong faith and knew her lord and savior personally. She rarely missed her daily devotions and reading her bible. She also had a green thumb. The family was blessed with her bountiful garden harvests and many sweet corn feeds. She could make an apple pie that made your mouth water, even though she really didn’t care for it. That was only one of the many ways she showed her love - always putting her family first. Her greatest treasure in life was her family. As her children we were always in awe of how she managed to do it all, but the thing she did best was loving our dad and all of us. She loved to tell people about all of us. Especially how she had 3 sets of twin grandchildren and two great grandsons. She and Tim enjoyed travel also, visiting Jamaica, Costa Rica, South Africa, and Ireland. Many trips were made to Montana and to Illinois to visit family also. She will eternally loved and missed by her husband of 54 years Tim of Dassel, MN. Her children Nicole (Kevin) Carlen, Shannon Kelly, Matthew (Heidi) Kelly, all of Dassel and Katie (Joel) Lund of Cokato, MN. 16 grandchildren, Alexis (Dylan) Gehrke, Anna Carlen (David Aakhus), Alyssa Carlen (Peyton Myers), Garrett, Braden, Griffin, Lauren and Julia Kelly, Logan Kelly of Cokato, MN, Grant, Gabyrelle, Irelynn, and Nickolas Kelly of Dassel. Gavyn Lund of Dassel, MN, Brynn, and Natalia Lund of Cokato, MN. Two great grandsons, Axel and Oliver Gehrke of Dassel, MN. She is further survived by her siblings Rene Ortquist of Chicago, Illinois, Rise (Ron) Beckman, Rori (Doug) Carlson all of Dassel, MN, Ruthie (Ron) Klima of Cokato, MN, Reid (Cheryl) Ortquist of Cumberland, WI, Rahn (Pamela) Ortquist of Cokato, MN, Raquel (Chad) Kirchoff of Welch, MN. Sister and brother in laws Mike (Pat) Kelly, Kathy Kelly, Gwen Kelly of Cokato, MN, Charlotte Ainslie of Lavina, MT, Jennifer (Ben) Brown of Red Lodge, MT, and Lori Kelly of Billings, MT. She was a loved aunt to many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her grandson Austin Carlen, her parents Dennis and Marlys Ortquist, parents in law Robert and Beverly Kelly. We will miss her more than anything but rejoice in knowing we will see her again someday. It’s not goodbye, it’s see you later. We love you.
