Richard (Rick) Lawrence Berg

Richard “Rick” Lawrence Berg, age 70, of Dassel, Died Sunday, January 5, 2025, at his home. A funeral service will be held at noon on Saturday, January 11, 2025, at Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Dassel with Rev. Janine Olson officiating. The interment will be held at the First Lutheran Cemetery in Grove City, Minnesota. There will be a visitation from 10:00 a.m. to noon on Saturday, January 11, 2025, at the Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Dassel. Richard “Rick” Lawrence Berg, the son of Lawrence Edgar and Eva Lorraine Selma (Nelson) Berg, was born on May 21, 1954, at the Cokato Hospital in Cokato, Minnesota. Rick was baptized and confirmed at the First Lutheran Church (Gethsemane Lutheran Church) in Dassel. He grew up in Dassel and was in the last graduating class of Dassel High School in 1972. On July 1, 1972, Rick was united in marriage to Kathleen Helen Pritchett in Watertown, South Dakota. Together they made their home in Dassel where Rick was employed at Dura Supreme Cabinetry in Howard Lake, Ollie and Son Salvage in Litchfield, Hutch Equipment in Hutchinson, Les Benson Sanitation, and Smith Sanitation. On October 3, 1983, Rick was employed by the City of Dassel in their Public Works Department. Rick retired on June 30, 2014, after 30 years of employment with the city of Dassel. Rick enjoyed spending time fishing, playing cards and games, loved music, movies, and hanging out with friends. He was talented in fixing small engines and auto body repair. He loved to spend time with his family and enjoyed holidays and special events. He will be deeply missed by his family and his many friends. He is survived by daughters, Kari (Karl) Davis of Watkins, Shannon (Ben) Oporto of Litchfield, and Alison (Eric) Johnson of Litchfield, six grandchildren, Jessica (Adam) Kish, Justin Anders, Harley Davis, Nathan Theis, Grant Oporto, and Chase Oporto, two great grandchildren, Mason Kish, and Abigail Kish, siblings, Mary Lind of Isle, Karen Benson of Coon Rapids, Patty Parzyck of Colfax, WI, Debbie Martinson of Cokato, and Laurie (Jim) Totzke of Columbia Heights. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Eva Berg, maternal and paternal grandparents, son-in-law, Brian Bratvold, brothers-in-law, Jerome Benson, Jim Martinson, and Terry Parzyck, nephews, Steve Lind, Franklin Totzke, and Thomas Benson.
