Pamela Jane Arola

Pamela Jane Arola, age 70, of Litchfield, formerly of Dassel, died Wednesday, February 28, 2018, in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota. A funeral service will be held on Sunday, March 4, 2018, at 2:00 p.m. at the Dassel Church of Christ with Pastor Chris Halstead officiating at the service. The interment will be held at the Dassel Community Cemetery following the service. There will be an hour visitation prior to the service on Sunday at the Dassel Church of Christ. Pamela Jane (Helvick) Arola, the daughter of Merton Orville and Kathryn (Smith) Helvick, was born on January 15, 1948, in Fort Dodge, Iowa. Pamela grew up and was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith and was a member of the Dassel Church of Christ at the time of her death. Pamela graduated from the Dayton High School in 1966. Pam had been employed at Globe Union in Fort Dodge as the receptionist and payroll clerk for numerous years. She had also worked for several years at American Time and Signal in Dassel. On October 4, 1986, Pamela was united in marriage to Howard Arola. Together they made their home in Dassel before moving to Litchfield. She loved her family and would often take trips to Lake Okoboji where they would ride the Queen excursion boat on Lake Okoboji and ate Blackwater Taffy with her nieces and nephews. She was a devoted wife, aunt and a friend to many. She loved to spend time crocheting, needle point and quilting and was very artistic. She made birth quilts for each of her nieces and nephews as well as many members of the church community. She was a voracious reader and could often be found reading her bible. She loved to travel and go fishing and camping with Howard. She had a wicked sense of humor. She never missed a birthday and always sent a card. Pam had a special spot in her heart for children. She always had time for them either playing computer games with them or giving them a special treat or gift when they visited. She will be missed by everyone who knew her. She is survived by her husband Howard of Litchfield, brothers, Paul (Susan) Helvick of Roseville, California; Mark (Georgia) Helvick of Corcoran, Minnesota; Gary (Cathy) Helvick of Galesburg, Illinois; and Alan (Cindy) Helvick of Galesburg, Illinois. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents, and siblings Earl Helvick, Marilyn Jensen, Donald Helvick, Carol Mammen and an infant sister, Wanda Helvick.
