Irene Faye Stewart

Irene Faye Stewart, age 74, of Dassel, died Thursday, May 8, 2025, at her residence. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at the Johnson Family Funeral Home in Dassel. A visitation will be held on Monday evening, May 12, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Tuesday morning one hour prior to the service at the Johnson Family Funeral Home in Dassel. In lieu of funeral flowers a donation would be appreciated or a gift of perennials or annuals for Irene's garden. Irene Faye (Riebe) Stewart, the daughter of Gilbert Edward and Elsie Pearl (Sandberg) Riebe was born on July 28, 1950, in Hutchinson, Minnesota. Irene grew up in Darwin where she was baptized and confirmed at All Saints Lutheran Church. Irene joined the Evangelical Covenant Church in Dassel and reconfirmed her faith as an adult and was baptized in Long Lake. She attended many different bible studies and women’s ministries. She attended Darwin Elementary and graduated from Dassel High School in 1968. On August 2, 1969, Irene was united in marriage to James Stewart at the Howard Lake Methodist Church. Together they made their home in the Cokato and Dassel area and in 1979 moved South of Dassel where they have since lived. Irene was employed at Fabritek in Cokato and Berk Packaging Solutions, Inc for several years. In 1989, Irene was employed at American Time and Signal retiring in 2016. She loved to ice and summer fish with her Dad and eventually bass fishing with her son, Brent, She enjoyed her first plane ride to Denver. She enjoyed crocheting, plastic canvas, cross-stitch, jigsaw, and crossword puzzles and occasionally sewing. She also loved to snowmobile. She could often be found attending garage sales or overseeing the many garage sales she had over the years. She loved watching her garden and flowers grow, much like her family. She always wanted her family around for holidays and her daughter Bonnie’s meals. Irene enjoyed supporting her family in everything they did. She adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her greatest joys in life were her husband and family and anytime she could spend with them. She is survived by her husband, James Stewart of Dassel, children, Brent (Kimberly) Stewart of Darwin, Bonnie Nelsen (partner, Richard Sorensen) of Montrose, grandchildren, Dylan (Nicole) Maidl of Cokato, Marissa (Jesse) Sanders, of Glenburn, ND, Lacie Nelsen, great grandchildren, Oslo and Luca Sanders and her brother, Eugene (Shelia) Riebe of Fridley. She was preceded in death by her parents, Gilbert and Elsie Riebe.
