Gerald Lee Maidl

Gerald Lee Maidl, age 76, of Cokato, died Sunday, December 3, 2023, at the Meeker Memorial Hospital in Litchfield. A celebration of life will be held on Friday, December 15, 2023, at the Cokato City Hall from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The interment of the urn will be Held at the Minnesota State Veteran Cemetery in Little Falls, Minnesota. Gerald Lee Maidl, the son of Alfred and Mary (Harris) Maidl, was born on June 1, 1947, in New Ulm, Minnesota. Gerald grew up in the New Ulm, Minnesota area where he attended schooling. Gerald was inducted into the United States Navy on February 25, 1965, and served a tour of duty in Vietnam during the Vietnam War. Gerald was discharged on May 31, 1968. On September 2, 1969, Gerald was united in marriage to Elaine Dalzell in Barron, Wisconsin. Together they made their home in Cumberland, Wisconsin before they moved to Rice, Minnesota where they made their home for several years. They then moved to Bowlus, Minnesota before moving and making their home in Dassel, Minnesota. In 1978, Gerald and Elaine moved to Cokato, where they have since resided. Gerald had been employed at Johnson Seed Company before he was employed at Industrial Louvers in Delano as a welder for 30 years before he retired. Gerald was an avid outdoorsman and had enjoyed hunting, fishing, and taking his family on outings, camping, and swimming when his children were growing up. He enjoyed spending time taking rides on his motorcycle and would ride from early spring to winter. He loved his family, grandchildren, and great grandchildren with his whole heart. He could often be found doing yard work, mowing, and waging war on dandelions, walnuts, and squirrels. He is survived by his wife, Elaine Maidl of Cokato, children, Gerald Le Maidl Jr. of Cokato, Karrie Jo (Loren “Doc) Baysinger of Hutchinson, Michelle Lee Henkelmann of Glencoe, and James Wallace Maidl of Cokato, fourteen grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, mother, Mary Ringheim of Rice, siblings, John Maidl of Sauk Rapids, Kathrine (William) Janski of Rice, Wallace Maidl of Rice, Richard (Rose) Maidl of Sartell, Leona Wagner of Rice, Robert (Shony) Maidl of Sauk Rapids, Merry Ann Yell of Sauk Rapids, Marleen Maidl of St. Cloud, Lois Boe of St. Cloud, Alfred Maidl of the Twin Cities, Sandi (Melvin) Thomas of North Branch, and Lucy (Steve) Pearson of Big Lake, He was preceded in death by his father, Alfred Maidl, his stepmother Mary Maidl and stepfather, Dell Ringheim.
