Frances Elizabeth Johnson

Frances Elizabeth Johnson, age 100, of Dassel, died Saturday, November 05, 2016, at the Lakeview Ranch, Darwin. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 10, 2016, at the Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Dassel with the Rev. Carolyn Pflibsen officiating. The interment will be held at the Swan Lake Cemetery in rural Dassel. There will be a time to gather with the family one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. The Johnson Funeral Home in Dassel is in charge of the funeral arrangements. Frances Elizabeth (Floren) Johnson the daughter of Algot and Albertina (Danielson) Floren was born on October 13, 1916, in Litchfield, Minnesota. She grew up in the Dassel area and graduated from the Dassel High School. Frances continued her education by attending teachers training in Willmar to obtain her teacher certificate. Frances taught country school for several years. Frances was baptized and confirmed at Swan Lake Lutheran Church and was a member of Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Dassel at the time of her death. She had been an active member of bible study, the Swan Lake Ladies Aid and later the Gethsemane Lutheran Ladies Aid and quilting group. On June 19, 1937, Frances was united in marriage to Bernard Nels Johnson at the Lutheran church parsonage in Dassel. Together they made their home on the farm north west of Dassel until 1973, when they moved into Dassel. Frances loved teaching children and her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren were a joy in her life. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and sewing. She was also a member of the birthday club and senior citizens in Dassel. She loved her community and always enjoyed everyone she would meet. She will be missed by her family and her friends. She is survived by her son, Richard (Gail) Johnson of Dassel, son-in-law, John Sandstede of Dassel, grandchildren, Noah Johnson, April Leiker, Amy Dickson (husband, Kent), Abby Alle (husband, Neil), Beau Johnson (wife, Alison), Sara Krueger (husband, Jeff Olson), Peter Krueger (wife, Sheree), Stephanie (Sandstede) Smith (husband, Chris), and Jill (Sandstede) Wedel (husband, Jason), 20 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard, daughter, Susan Sandstede, grandson, Lucas Johnson, infant grandson, Joshua Johnson, parents, Algot and Albertina Floren, siblings, Ruby Oster, Oliver Floren, Dennis Floren, and Harold Floren.
