Bruce Darrel Lindquist

Bruce Darrel Lindquist, age 74, of Dassel, passed away on Sunday, December 23, 2018, at his home. Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 5, 2019, at 11:00 A.M. at the Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Dassel with Rev. Laurie O'Shea officiating. Gathering of Family and Friends will be Saturday at the Gethsemane Lutheran Church for one hour prior to the service. Bruce Darrel Lindquist, was born September 26, 1944, in French Lake Township, Wright County, Minnesota, the son of Elmer and Ruby (Nelson) Lindquist. Bruce grew up in the Cokato and Dassel area and graduated from the Dassel High School in 1962. Bruce was baptized in the Christian faith and was a member of Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Dassel. Bruce worked at the Minnesota Hatchery in Dassel for 28 years and worked as a finishing carpenter for Dahl Builders for 11 years. On May 11, 1964, Bruce was united in marriage to Renva Johnson at the Zion Lutheran Church in Litchfield. Together they made their home in Dassel, where they raised three sons and shared 54 years of marriage. Bruce served 20 years on the Dassel Volunteer Fire Department, with the last four years of service as Fire Chief. He volunteered for many years working in the barbeque pits for the annual Red Rooster Day. Hobbies he enjoyed were hunting, fishing and woodworking. Together, Bruce and Renva enjoyed antiquing road trips throughout Minnesota. Bruce enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren for family gatherings, sports events and holidays. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to family and neighbors. He took meticulous care of his yard and garden. He loved the companionship of his English Setters, Daisy, Maggie and Mollie and would often tell stories about them. Bruce will be missed by his family and many friends. Bruce is survived by his wife, Renva Lindquist of Dassel, three sons, Clint (Brenda) Lindquist of Litchfield, Heath Lindquist of Wyoming, Minnesota, Daniel (Shannon) Lindquist of South Haven, 11 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, sisters, Betty Rokala of Cokato, Diane (David) Chastek of South Haven, and Mary (John) Railsback of Silt, Colorado. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his siblings, Sharon Shoutz, Jim Lindquist, Donald Lindquist, and Lynn Lindquist.
